Covered

So many days have gone by
Many of minutes she listens closely
She listens for voices
Listen for footsteps heard from long ago
She waits for a new life in silence
Her brown steel body has faded
Rear quarter has holes in it
Boxes hold up her rear
Rear window is covered with dust and fake flowers
WIndshield is covered with paw prints
Her insides look like a Christmas tree
Old tires dangle off the floor
Right fender is hanging on the wall
Her heart lay in pieces along her left side
Where her heart once was is filled with junk
Though she smells fuel none flows through her veins
Footsteps come like the weather
She longs for the minutes to end
She desires for the day to come
When footsteps come with warm hands
Longs for her heart to be bolted into her aging body
Desires for fuel to flow through her veins
Longs for her body to be restored
Desires for the smell of leather within
Longs for the feeling of fresh tires on the ground
She a ‘71 Cyclone desires loving hands
Longs for the warmth of a coat of purple
To feel the love under the sun
Feel firm hands on her steering wheel
While she lays rubber at a stop sign.

Born

While the snow melts sadness comes
The land feels the warmth of the sun
Weeds part and life begins to come out
A beetle crawls along his stem
The warm wind blows him free
Spiders pull him up with their webs
Moist moss glides over and grips him tight
His black petals are fragile and hanging on by a thread
Kisses are given to each petal by a honey bee
Rain clouds blot out the sun
Gently his body is graced by the rain
The clouds part and the sun comes through
His petals soak in the sun
A wasp lands on his stem and flies away
Strength surges throughout his stem
A light breeze is felt from the wings of a hummingbird
His petals start to turn white
A black and blue butterfly visits every petal then leaves
One at a time each petal turns blue
He’s turning into a rose
A familiar sight comes to him
He feels the warmth of a human hand
He feels love again.
